Welcome to a Taco Friday Edition of Food Porn, brought to you by The Burrow - we had an an amazing dinner of Tacos and sundry at our wonderful friends' house last night - many thanks to Nicole, Jessica, Howie, and Luke for the heavenly selection of mouth-watering foods - spicy pulled pork, hot-sauce shrimp, and a sweet, tangy beef, along with tomatoes, onions, lime, fresh cilantro, and, to our surprise and delight crunchy fresh cabbage for filling the freshly fried and warm taco shells

- along with an Elote salad - mexican street corn flavor without all the mess - a really spicy bean dip that we couldn't get enough of, with hint-of-lime chips - and the most amazing home made sangria that I have ever had in my life

After all that wonderfulness for the main meal - for dessert Ania made a Tres Leche Cake

- a light sponge cake with heady Mexican vanilla, and fragrant cinnamon - every little bubble of which was filled to the brim with a mixture of more of that bold Mexican vanilla infused, along with 3 kinds of milk - creamy and rich whole milk, sweet and sticky condensed milk, and some buttery rich heavy cream - all laced with just a kiss of cloves for that special warmth - this was served with fresh sliced strawberries and whipped cream. She also made some Caramel Apple Empanadas

- a flaky, tender crust made with lard for that shatteringly unique quality, and stuffed with tart, sweet Granny Smith Apples, cooked in a rich caramel sauce until just a little toothy, then deep fried until golden, and rolled in a little crystal sugar. A truly amazing meal that made us feel like we were walking a small town Mexican market, sampling the best of home made street foods! And now, for a nap.
